    Start by isolating a clump to cross-cut, be sure to cut well above your pet's skin.

  2. Feel below the clump and above the skin

    Cut the clump vertically above your grip.

  3. Gently untangle the remaining fur.

    Pulling in equal and opposite directions. Also give your pet a break with some praise.

  4. Now give the fur some time to unwind.

    Great Job! Remember the goal is your pet's comfort. You aren't trying to REMOVE the matted fur, but RELEASE it. It might look messy at first and that's OK.
